Dowdy is a surname. Common anglicisation of the ancient Irish surname Ó Dubhda ''(English'': O'Dowd). Other anglicised variants are Dowd, Dawdy, Dowdy, O'Dowda and Dowds, with Doody and Duddy, found around Killarney, where a branch of the Connacht family settled.
