Summary: | Our goal in this paper is to study the effectiveness of the prophylactic standard dose of the anti-D immunoglobulin administration in pregnant women who are Rhesus D- negative. This is descriptive cross sectional hospital based study that carried out in Khartoum and Aldayat hospital, Sudan from April to July 2012. They are 50 respondents were recruited. Data is collected through questionnaire and 2 samples (serum and whole blood) are collected from each respondent. Also an antibody titration and Kleihauer Test is performed for each sample. They were 50 Rh-negative pregnant women who fulfill the eligibility criteria. Among these women, the result showed 14% positive for anti body titration and 86% negative in women who receive standard anti D dose as postnatal prophylaxis. However, our study shows similar result with the one obtained by Lubuský et. al (2010) and Turner el. al (2012). |
