According to Pew Research Center(2012), one such large group of people who have special requirements and needs when it comes to using restrooms are Muslims, who make up 1.5 billion of the world population. This figure represents approximately one quarter of the world's population, making Islam the second largest religion in the world.In Malaysia and most of Islamic countries, it is important to understand the 'Islamic toilet manner' as they can influence and has direct implications for the design and planning of toilet facilities as Islam is a universal and advocates matter of cleanliness.Among the most crucial problems to be solved if one wants to enjoy outing are whether one is sure to find a toilet one can comfortably use outside of one’s familiar surroundings. How should toilets outside one’s dwelling be designed and distributed to ensure inclusive environment for everyone and to be used for the Muslims.The intention is to include diverse users and purposes. This paper is to discuss what might be the best example andstandards for toilet provision andtoilet design according to the Islamic principles and highlighting the importance of public toilets in creating accessible cities for everyone. In designing a public toilet, some elements should be highlighted particularly on the understanding of users’ needs. With the various types of users, there is a need for a universal design of a public toilet that is always clean, comfortable and safe as well as relaxing. Islam is the official religion of Malaysia and more than half of the population is Muslim.The Department of Standard Malaysia (SIRIM) had introducedinterior designers, architects, city planners, landscape architects, and others who are involved in the construction of physical development with Universal Design to their publication of Malaysian Standards which will be used as a benchmark and guidelines forthe accessible environment. four standards on public toilet to be developed, which are MS 2015: 2006 Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4.
