Description
Summary:A novel composite coated metallic material is invented based on single phase ceramic reinforcement and hybridization of composite coating using simple and cost effective TIG torch melting technique. This strategy provides better tribological behaviour of coated material even at higher temperature. Salient features of the product are: - Advanced lubrication concept Good metallurgical bonding Higher hardness Good wear resistanve (higher durability) Stable frictional control at high temperature There are two parts in the methodology. First part is the preplacement of single phase SiC particles on low alloy steel substrate. TIG torch was applied on the preplaced surface with generation of arc and high heat which melt the substrate material and coating material together. Upon solidification, this produces a new composite coated layer. For the second part, a similar approach was applied for hybrid composite coating with TiC/Ni-P-hBN with low alloy steel substrate.
