The authors expect this change to increase the incentives as well as the ability to undertake long-term investments on the part of households. Their difference-in-differences estimation strategy takes advantage of the variation across provinces in the issuance of land-use certificates needed to enforce these rights. The results indicate that the additional land rights led to significant increases in the share of total area devoted to multi-year crops, as well as some increase in irrigation investment. These effects are stronger in areas that felt the impact of the land reform earlier. 2014-04-30T19:18:00Z 2014-04-30T19:18:00Z 2003-08 http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2003/08/2507710/land-rights-economic-development-evidence-vietnam-land-rights-economic-development-evidence-viet-nam http://hdl.handle.net/10986/18116 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 3120 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research East Asia and Pacific Vietnam
