Description
Summary:This report aims to stimulate discussion on the ongoing industry debate, challenges and the growing benefits of financial sector stakeholders working together to serve clients responsibly. It updates global responsible finance initiatives and builds on previous stocktaking reports to take a deeper look at implementation of responsible finance principles across the three pillars, highlighting emerging trends in consumer protection regulation, financial institutions self-regulation, and client financial education. This report is based on the global mapping methodology and reflects responses received from a survey of the community of practice. A list of respondents in the survey can be found in the beginning of the report. Survey participants were asked to describe their responsible finance initiatives, and nominate innovative cases across the three pillars that could be featured in the report. Case studies were selected from the responses to the global mapping survey. The criteria for case selection for this report included: (1) initial implementation results; (2) emerging evidence and lessons learned; (3) potential for scale and replicability; and (4) a balance of initiatives across the three pillars. Case study contributors were interviewed to provide insights, challenges, and key lessons learned. The report also includes case studies from the global mapping and other sources that illustrate topics discussed. The global mapping exercise showed several encouraging trends across the three pillars of responsible finance that respond to challenges identified during Responsible Finance Forum III.
