The change increased the minimum legal age of entry into the labor force from 14 to 16 years. The analysis uses a difference-in-differences approach to estimate the impact of this change in the law on labor force participation rates as a whole, as well as for the formal and informal sectors separately. The results show that the ban reduced participation rates for boys by 4 percentage points and that this effect was mostly driven by the informal sector. No effect is found for girls. 2015-11-05T18:57:54Z 2015-11-05T18:57:54Z 2015-10 Working Paper http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/2015/10/25167333/causal-impacts-child-labor-law-brazil-some-preliminary-findings http://hdl.handle.net/10986/22873 English en_US Policy Research Working Paper; No. 7444 CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo/ World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Publications & Research :: Policy Research Working Paper Publications & Research Brazil
