Afghan youth are critical to the development of their country and have the potential to be drivers of peace and prosperity. However, they face various barriers to participation, across social and economic domains. Slow economic growth and continued fragility exacerbate the challenge of youth inclusion, particularly in the fields of employment and service delivery. In recent years, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and development partners have invested in several initiatives to bolster the inclusion of youth. One of these initiatives is the creation of ‘Youth Sub-Committees’ of Community Development Councils under the Citizens’ Charter Afghanistan Project. Based on conversations with almost two hundred Afghan youth, including YSC members, this study firstly examines pathways to inclusion for Afghan youth, and secondly the potential for YSCs to assist in this project. 2020-04-29T14:07:59Z 2020-04-29T14:07:59Z 2020-04 Report http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/593251587481081246/A-Qualitative-Assessment-of-Pathways-to-Youth-Inclusion-in-Afghanistan http://hdl.handle.net/10986/33661 English CC BY 3.0 IGO http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/igo World Bank World Bank, Washington, DC Economic & Sector Work Economic & Sector Work :: Other Social Protection Study South Asia Afghanistan
