Summary:This study aimed to investigate the difficulties faced by Form 3 students in listening comprehension and the cause and suggestions to overcome the. This study was designed to identify what are the difficulties encountered by the students in listening comprehension so that teachers will be able to determine the cause and come out with the solutions for the problems. It was a descriptive research that employed mixed-method strategies through the use of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The study involved 100 students from two secondary schools in Rantau and Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. The data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed in terms of mean scores and standard deviation and the semi-structured interviews were examined and then deductively and inductively analyzed based on the research questions posed in the study Findings from the study indicated that there are four factors that contributed to the difficulties in listening comprehension among the Form Three students; background knowledge of the listener, the language factors, the speaker factors and the technical factors. Two areas were identified to be the cause of these difficulties This study could implicate on solving the difficulties in listening comprehension faced by the students and improve their listening skills through the teaching of specific listening strategies and increasing the number of practice in listening comprehension.
