Summary:Induction motors are widely used in industry nowadays. Induction motor can be controlled by adjusting voltage terminal, pole changing and frequency as scalar control. In this study, induction motor control by using SPWM technique that is better control than other scalar control methods. To generate this SPWM pulses signal, triangle wave as a carrier signal is compared with the sinusoidal wave, whose frequency is the desired frequency. The widths of these pulses signal are modulated to obtain inverter output voltage control. SPWM duty cycle control technique enable better efficiency of three phase induction motor to provide flexible control and novel cyclic operation as well as better protection schemes for the motor and control circuit. SPWM have improved the speed control and reduce the power losses in the system and is chosen as a better alternative. This paper focuses on step by step development SPWM implemented on a three phase Induction motor. Simulation model of SPWM is obtained using Multisim software. Simulation results are also provided.
