Summary:The occurrence of plastic moulding defect products is not a foreign problem. These defect problems always occur and it can affect the company’s image and also involved the customer dissatisfaction. Some factors that are man, machine, mould, method and material has been identified and these factors influenced most in defect rate of the phone casing. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors that lead to the defect rate in moulding process and at the same time some improvement plan can be recommended. A quantitative data are collected through the site visit of one of the plastic company. The results of this research show that the company is facing a big problem with short mould, silver streak and moisture, black dot and contamination, and scratches. Several improvement plans were recommended to reduce these types of defect such as continually monitored using the Statistical Process Control (SPC) Tools such as Pareto diagram and Cause-and-Effect diagram.
